The gel is ideal for sprains, strains, sports injuries, some arthritic conditions and general aches and joint pain. It is designed to target pain at the source, giving you local symptomatic relief.

How Reliviate Aches & Joint Pain Relief Gel 0.5% w/w works

Reliviate Aches & Joint Pain Relief Gel 0.5% w/w contains the active ingredient piroxicam. Piroxicam is a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is applied to the skin to reduce inflammation and swelling. 

Piroxicam works by blocking the production of chemicals which the body produces in response to an injury or certain diseases.

 

Directions

Always use Reliviate Aches & Joint Pain Relief Gel 0.5% w/w exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

This gel is designed for topical application only. 

Squeeze 3cm of the gel onto your hand and gently massage it into the skin around the injury. 

Apply the gel 3 times a day.

Apply each dose at least 4 hours apart. 

 

Side effects

Like all products, Reliviate Aches & Joint Pain Relief Gel 0.5% w/w may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

• Redness of the skin 
• Sore, itchy, tingly, numb or painful skin 
• Nausea
• Abdominal pain

 

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

Warnings

Reliviate Aches & Joint Pain Relief Gel 0.5% w/w may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have ever had asthma that is made worse by aspirin or other painkillers.

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before using this medicine if you have any of the following: 

 

• Asthma 
• Active peptic ulcer
• Liver problems 
• Kidney problems

 

Do not cover the area where the gel has been rubbed with dressings or bandages.

Do not use it for more than 14 days unless your doctor/pharmacist tells you to.

Do not get this gel into your eyes, nose or mouth. If the gel accidentally goes into your eyes or mouth, wash it out immediately. If you accidentally swallow the gel, contact your doctor immediately. 

 

Using/taking other medicines

You must tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any medication or have recently taken any medication. You must inform your doctor if you are taking the following medication:

 

• Aspirin 
• Other painkillers
• Medicines to thin the blood (e.g. warfarin) 
• Medicines to lower blood pressure (e.g. lisinopril, iloprost or losartan)

 

Age restrictions 

This product is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. 

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

This product is not suitable for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking/using any new medicine. 

 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
