Why are my feet dry?
Dry feet (also known as anhidrosis) is a common problem as, unlike the skin elsewhere on the body, our feet do not have oil glands. Our feet therefore rely on sweat glands to keep them hydrated. Dry skin can cause cracking, patches of dry skin and itchiness. Dry skin on the feet can be made worse by:
- Excessively hot baths or showers
- Weather conditions
- Open backed shoes, such as sandals
- Some medical conditions
There are steps you can take to keep your feet moisturised including:
- Filing the skin on feet
- Wear socks
- Apply moisturiser daily
- Wear suitable footwear
How can Eucerin Foot Cream help to hydrate your feet?
Eucerin Foot Cream contains Urea and Ceramide to provide effective and intensive moisturisation for dry or extremely dry feet. The clinically proven formula keeps feet moisturised and hydrated for up to 48 hours and prevents further moisture loss. The powerful cream strengthens the skin’s natural lipid barrier, soothes extremely dry skin and repairs cracked heels. This product is suitable for personas who have xerosis, psoriasis, diabetes and mature skin.
What is Urea?
Urea is a substance that is produced naturally by the skin to regulate its moisture content. It binds water in the upper layer of the skin and can also break down the connections between dead skin cells, improving the shedding of cells and smoothing the skin’s surface. As urea is a natural skin compound it is well tolerated.
What are Ceramides?
Ceramides are produced by the skin to create a natural protective barrier that helps to prevent moisture loss due to evaporation and to block out irritants that can cause inflammation and itching. If the skin’s ceramide levels fall, it can cause dryness and irritation. Using ceramide in skin care products help to lock in moisture and prevent dryness and irritation.
