What is athlete’s foot?
Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection which usually starts between your toes and can spread over the soles and sides of your shoes. If the fungi that live on your feet are given a warm, moist environment where they can thrive, they can cause athlete’s foot infections. Common symptoms of athlete’s foot include:
- Itching or burning sensation
- White, scaly patches of skin between the toes
- Cracking skin
- Very dry or scaly skin
- Blisters
- Foot odour
How will this product treat my athlete’s foot?
Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray contains the active ingredient Tolnaftate, which is an antifungal medication. This means it kills the fungi that cause athlete’s foot as they are living on your skin. This treats the infection at its source, providing effective relief in a simple spray.
Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray can be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. However, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this or any other medication at this time, so they can be sure that the treatment is suitable for you.
Can I use this product if I have diabetes?
You should not use this product if you have diabetes or other circulatory problems. If you have an athlete’s foot infection, ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a suitable treatment for you.
How to use this spray
Before you use your Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray, wash and dry the affected area. Shake the can well and hold 10 – 15cm away from the affected area. Spray the area liberally, twice a day. Let dry before wearing shoes and be sure to wear clean socks or hosiery every day. Continue treatment for 2 weeks after your athlete’s foot symptoms disappear. If your symptoms have not improved after 10 days, stop use and speak to your doctor.
When should this product not be used?
Do not use Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray if you are allergic to tolnaftate or any of the other listed ingredients. This product is not suitable for use on nail and scalp infections. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas. This product is a highly flammable aerosol. Keep away from flames or other sources of heat or ignition. Do not smoke while using this product. Do not pierce or burn the canister, even after use.
Does Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray have any side effects?
Like all medications, Scholl Athlete’s Foot Spray can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. These side effects can include:
- Local skin reactions (e.g. itching, rash)
- Irritation to eyes
- Irritation to mucous membranes

How to store this product
Store in a cool, dry place which is below 25 degrees C. Do not expose to temperatures over 50 degrees C. Protect from sunlight. Do not use this product if the expiry date printed on the original product has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
