The easy to use formula works by killing the scabies mites or crab lice and their eggs. Infestations of scabies or crab lice can be uncomfortable and unpleasant, but Lyclear provides a simple and effective solution to help clear up the infestation and provide relief.
What are scabies and crab lice?
Scabies and crab lice are both tiny insects that can cause infestations on the body, which result in unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms. Both scabies and crab lice can be spread through close bodily contact if left untreated so it is important to treat the issue as soon as you notice any symptoms.
Scabies is a contagious skin condition that is caused by tiny mites which burrow into the skin and cause itching and rashes to appear. Scabies mites lay their eggs in the outer layer of the skin known as the epidermis. After 3-4 days the eggs hatch and the larvae (baby mites) move to the surface of the skin where they grow into adults. Scabies mites like war, places such as between the fingers, folds of skin, under fingernails and around the buttock or breast creases. The mites can also hide under bracelets rings and watches. Scabies is commonly spread through skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or through sexual contact. In rare cases, it is possible for scabies to be passed on through sharing towels, clothing and bedding with and infected person. After a person is initially infected with scabies it can take up to 8 weeks for symptoms to appear. The main symptoms of scabies are intense itching, particularly at night time and a rash that consists of tiny red spots. The rash starts out as small, silver ‘burrow lines’ with a black dot at the end and then turn into a series of small itchy spots which can cause crust sores to develop when scratched. This rash is caused by the mites burrowing into the skin and our bodies reacting to the droppings left behind by the mites.
Crab lice (also known as pubic lice) are tiny insects (similar to head lice) that live on coarse body hair, such as:
Underarm and leg hair
Hair on the chest, abdomen and back
Facial hair, such as beards and moustaches
Eyelashes and eyebrows
Crab lice tend to grow to around 2mm long so aren’t easy to identify and are usually either a yellow-grey or dark red colour with six legs. The lice lay their eggs in small sacs which are stuck to hairs and are pale brown. Similar to head lice, when the eggs hatch they leave behind a white empty egg sack known as nits. It can take several weeks for symptoms to appear and common symptoms include:
Itchiness around the infested areas, especially at night
Inflammation and irritation caused by scratching
Black powder in your underwear
Blue spots or small spots of blood on your skin, such as your thighs and lower parts of the abdomen which are caused by lice bites.
Itchiness is caused by an allergic reaction to the saliva produced by the lice and is usually worse at night as this is when the lice are the most active.
How can Lyclear help to treat scabies and crab lice?
Lyclear contains the active ingredient Permethrin which belongs to a group of medicines called pyrethroids and is an insecticide which is commonly used to control insects and infestations. Permethrin helps to get rid of scabies and crab lice by affecting their nervous system when they comes into contact with it or eat it. It kills them by attacking the nervous system which causes muscle spasm, paralysis and death. Permethrin is toxic to insects as they can’t break it down, unlike larger organisms like dogs and humans. Lyclear kills the head lice and their eggs to prevent them from multiplying and allows you to remove the infestation.
