Clotrimazole Cream 1% - 20g - 6 pack is a multipack treatment for the relief of symptoms associated with thrush. It provides you with soothing relief from irritation that is caused by fungal infections.
How Clotrimazole Cream 1% works
Clotrimazole works by killing the fungus (yeast) that is causing the infection. It kills the fungus by creating holes in its cell membrane. The contents then leak out.
Directions
Always take Clotrimazole Cream 1% exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Apply the product thinly and evenly to the affected area and rub it in gently. Use the cream 2-3 times a day. You should use the cream for two weeks to treat the infection.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Clotrimazole may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- Irritated or red skin
- Burning or stinging sensation
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Clotrimazole may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this duo if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have any of the following:
- A heart condition or arrhythmia
- Kidney or liver problems
- Acute porphyria
- Abnormal levels of potassium, calcium or magnesium
Using/taking other medicines
Speak to your GP or a pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medications:
- Amphotericin or other antifungal medicines like nystatin
- Tacrolimus or sirolimus
- Pimozide, quetiapine, amisulpride, haloperidol, lithium or risperidone
- Antibiotics
- Ergotamine
- Amiodarone
- Anticoagulants
- Carbamazepine
- Losartan
- Statins
Clotrimazole cream is flammable. Do not use near an open flame or other ignition sources.
Age restrictions
This treatment is not recommended for under 16’s.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This treatment is not suitable for use during pregnancy.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking/using any new medicine.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
