What is athlete’s foot?
Athlete’s foot is a common fungal infection that affects the toes and bottoms of the feet. It is commonly picked up in swimming pools, changing rooms and showers. The common symptoms of athlete’s foot include:
- Moist, white areas between the toe, especially between the smaller toes
- White or red rashes on the bottom of your feet
- Itchy patches between toes
- Dry, flaky skin that my peel or crack
- Small ‘spot like’ blisters
- A musty smell from your feet
How can you treat athlete's foot?
There are a variety of steps you can take to treat athlete’s foot including:
- Wash your feet daily and dry well between your toes using a clean towel
- Use surgical spirit between your toes to reduce moisture
- Wear clean socks daily
- Wear shoes that are made of breathable material
- Treat footwear with anti-fungal powders, to get rid of the fungi in your shoes to prevent reinfection
- Avoid scratching the affected skin, as this can spread the infection to other parts of the body
- Do NOT apply moisturiser in between the toes
- Ensure you wear suitable footwear in changing rooms and showers and do not share towels, socks or shoes with other people
- Do NOT where the same pair of shoes for more than two days in a row, so they get the chance to dry thoroughly.
How can Mycota Cream help to relieve symptoms of athlete’s foot?
Mycota Cream contains 2 active ingredients: undecylenic acid and zinc undecylenate which have antifungal and antibacterial properties. It works by killing the fungi responsible for athlete’s foot and preventing reinfection. Mycota provides effective relief from itching, dry skin, inflammation and irritated skin. The easy to apply cream can be used morning and evening to kill the infection and leave you with comfortable, healthy feet.
How to use this product
Apply Mycota once in the morning and once in the evening. Before applying this product, ensure that the feet are clean and dry before massaging the cream into the affected areas of the feet. Pay particular attention to between the toes. Continue using the cream to treat the affected foot for one week after the symptoms have cleared. Wear clean socks each day.
When NOT to use Mycota Cream
This product is for external use only. Do NOT use this medicine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product (see ingredients tab for full list). Do NOT use this product on broken skin or if irritation becomes severe. Seek advice from your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Like all medicines, Myota cream can cause side effects, although they may not affect everyone. Myota may cause allergic reactions (rash, itching, wheezing) may occur. If you notice any side effects, stop using the product and seek medical advice.
