What is Son’s Minoxidil?

Son’s Minoxidil 5% is a solution that increases blood flow to the scalp, reactivating and revitalising shrunken hair follicles. This product is recommended for adult men with mild hair loss who are experiencing the early signs of a receding hairline, or hair loss in the crown area.

How do I use this hair loss treatment?

All you need to do is apply 1ml (10 sprays) of Son’s Minoxidil solution to the areas of the scalp where you’re noticing hair recession and/or thinning. This is usually most common in areas around the temples or the crown. This process should be done twice a day - once in the morning, once at night. Make sure the scalp is fully or mostly dry before applying Son’s Minoxidil.

When using Son’s Minoxidil, it’s important to protect the treated areas from sunlight (even when it’s cloudy) or ultraviolet lamps (UVA). Make sure to use SPF 50+ or cover the treated area to avoid any damage.

Son’s Minoxidil is only intended for use on the scalp, you must not apply it anywhere else on the body. You must especially avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, broken skin and sensitive areas. If the solution is accidentally applied to any area that isn’t the scalp, rinse it off thoroughly with plenty of water.

How does minoxidil prevent hair loss?

Minoxidil is an active ingredient known as a ‘vasodilator, meaning that it works by expanding the blood vessels and improving the blood flow to the area in which it’s applied. It’s also thought to reverse the shrinkage of hair follicles and extend each follicle’s growth phase, resulting in thicker, healthier hair.

What is male pattern hair loss?

Male pattern hair loss, also known as male pattern baldness, is a really common condition that affects a lot of men. It’s thought that 50% of men over 50 have some degree of hair loss, and a staggering 25% of men start to lose their hair before they’re even 30 years old.

Usually, a strand of hair survives for about four years before it’s replaced by a new one. In men with male pattern hair loss, the hair follicles become thin and fall out, and unfortunately, they don’t re-grow.

Male pattern hair loss usually starts at the temple, creating the appearance of a receding hairline, or at the crown, resulting in a bald spot.

On average, it can take 15-25 years for men to lose all of their hair and become completely bald, and this process can begin at any age. The timeline isn’t set in stone and it’s usually hereditary.

When should Son’s Minoxidil not be used?
