What is Otovent?
Otovent is a natural way to relieve symptoms of glue ear in both adults and children. This kit includes everything you need to use Otovent, including medical balloons, a nose piece, and a helpful carry case. The ideal way to relieve glue ear symptoms naturally until the condition has passed.
What is glue ear?
Glue ear is a condition where the empty part of the middle ear fills up with fluid. It is much more common in children than in adults, although adults can also suffer from glue ear. Glue ear usually isn’t treated, as it normally clears up by itself over a few months, but there are ways to relieve the symptoms until the condition has passed. Some of the symptoms of glue ear include:
- Loss of hearing.
- Earache.
- Ear pain.
- High pitched tones or ringing in the ear, also known as tinnitus.
How will this product relieve glue ear in my child?
Otovent helps to relieve glue ear by opening the eustachian tube in the ear, allowing excess fluid to drain from your middle ear. This helps to relieve glue ear by draining the ear and relieving the pressure that causes earache and loss of hearing. It also helps to reduce the need for grommet surgery in the ear.
How to use Otovent.
Before using Otovent, connect one Otovent balloon to the nose piece, stretching the balloon a little first if your child will need help inflating it. Hold the nose piece firmly around the right nostril with the right hand, holding the left nostril closed with the left hand. Inhale deeply through the mouth, close the mouth, and then blow out through the right nostril to inflate the balloon. You should inflate the balloon until it is the size of a grapefruit. Repeat the steps using the left nostril to inflate the balloon. You will know that the treatment has worked when your child experiences a pressure increase or hears a click in their ear. For best results, repeat treatment three times a day for 2 – 4 weeks.
When should Otovent not be used?
Otovent should not be used by children under the age of 3. Do not use a regular balloon in place of an Otovent balloon with this kit, the Otovent balloon is a medical device designed to help to relieve glue ear, using a regular balloon could cause damage to your inner ear. You should avoid using Otovent if your child has a cold or any other nasal congestion.
