What is Maalox Antacid Mint Flavoured Suspension?
This Maalox Suspension is a treatment that works to reduce the effects of indigestion. This solution contains 2 different ingredients, which are:
- Aluminium hydroxide
- Magnesium hydroxide
These are what are called antacids. Antacids reduce the acidity of stomach acid, which helps to reduce indigestion, an upset stomach, and heartburn.
What is indigestion?
Indigestion is a condition that can affect anyone. It is felt by pain and discomfort in the stomach but also the chest and throat. Symptoms of indigestion include:
- Feeling full or bloated
- Feeling sick
- Belching and passing wind
- Bringing up food
The stomach acid irritating the stomach is the main cause of indigestion, but it can also be caused by medicines, smoking, or alcohol. It can also be caused by certain conditions.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
This oral suspension is suitable for adults and children aged 14 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the suspension. You should also not use this treatment if:
- You feel weak and have no energy
- You have kidney problems
- You have severe stomach pain
- You have a partial or fully blocked bowel

How should Maalox Antacid Mint Flavoured Suspension be used?
Shake the bottle before using. Take this medicine by mouth. Take 10-20ml of the solution 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals or at bedtime. If symptoms don’t reduce after using this medicine, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.
Are there any side effects?
Like many medicines, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:
- Abdominal pain
