Maalox is a type of antacid and is used to relieve symptoms associated with indigestion, heartburn and gastritis. It contains two active ingredients, aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. When taken, Maalox works by reducing the amount of acid in your stomach.
This oral suspension is easy to swallow and has a fresh mint flavour. It can be taken on its own, or with water or milk if needed.
Your doctor may also have prescribed Maalox to help treat a stomach ulcer.

The recommended dose for adults and children over the age of 14 is two to four 5ml teaspoons after meals and before bedtime.
Shake the bottle well before use.

If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction after taking this medicine, talk to your doctor straight away. An allergic reaction may develop in the form of a skin rash, breathing problems or swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.
Maalox should not be taken during the first three months of pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed, you should talk to your midwife or GP before taking this medicine.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children and use within 6 months of opening.
