What is Peptac Peppermint Flavour Antacid 500ml?

Peptac Peppermint Flavour Antacid is a liquid that helps to treat heartburn and indigestion by stopping stomach acid from leaving the stomach and going into the food pipe, where it can cause pain and discomfort.

How does Peptac treat heartburn symptoms?

Peptac liquid relieves heartburn and indigestion symptoms through its three main ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, sodium alginate and calcium carbonate.

Together, these three ingredients work to neutralise excess acid in your stomach. By doing so, this medicine effectively reduces and relieves symptoms such as bloatedness, flatulence, nausea and uncomfortable, burning sensations in your chest.

The liquid is easy to swallow, measure and has an aromatic aniseed flavour.

Who is Peptac Peppermint Liquid suitable for?

It is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over. It is not suitable for anyone who is allergic to the ingredients in the liquid. Anyone who is using any other form of medication should consult a doctor before using Peptac.

Is it suitable for someone pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then it is recommended that you consult your doctor before using.

Is it ok to use other medicines while using Peptac Peppermint Liquid?

You should not use Peptac Peppermint Liquid for two hours after using other medicine because it can interfere with the other medicine and cause it to not work properly.

How much should I be using?

For children aged 6-12, give them one or two 5ml spoonfuls after meal times, or at bedtime, up to four times a day. For children over 12 and adults, double the dosage but only take up to the same four times a day.

Are there any side effects?

Any side effect will likely be as a result of a side effect. If you do notice a side effect, then contact your doctor as soon as possible. If you notice any side effect, then you can also report the side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
