Gaviscon Double Action Aniseed 300ml

What is Gaviscon Double Action and what does it do?

Gaviscon Double Action is an oral suspension used to relieve acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion. It contains two types of antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) and one alginate.

This treatment works in two ways. The antacids work to neutralise excess stomach acid, while the alginate helps to form a ‘raft’ that sits on top of the stomach acid and prevents it from backing up into the food pipe.

This oral suspension is easy to swallow and has a sweet taste of aniseed.

What is the recommended dose of this treatment?

Gaviscon double action is suitable for adults and children over the age of 12. It may also be taken by pregnant women. The recommended dose is 10 - 20ml up to four times per day. We suggest taking this medicine after meals and at bedtime.

10ml equals two teaspoons of suspension.

Shake well before using the medicine.

If you forget to take your medicine, just carry on with your next dose. Do not double your dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you take more Gaviscon than you should, you may feel bloated and uncomfortable.

Too much of this medicine is unlikely to be harmful to your health, but please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you have any questions.
