Buy BioSURE Liver Function Test Kit

The BioSure Liver Function Self Test Kit is a home liver function test that measures 6 biomarkers associated with the health of your liver. The biomarkers analysed in the liver test are:

  • Total protein
  • Albumin
  • Globulin
  • Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT)
  • Alanine aminotransferase (ALT)
  • Alanine aminotransferase (ALP)
  • Alkaline phosphate (ALP)

How to use

When you receive the test kit, all you need to do is take a simple finger prick sample, using the lancets that are provided in the box. Once you have done this, you can then register it online and post your kit to the laboratory using the envelope enclosed.

Your results are reviewed by the in-house GPs who will highlight any cause for concern that may need further investigation by your doctor. You will receive your full report via email, showing your results and how they compare with the normal reference ranges. You should expect to get your results the day after the lab receives your sample.

Who should use this kit?

Anyone who wants to find out the health of the liver can use this kit. You should especially take this test if you are at risk of getting liver disease. It is also strongly advised you take the test if you have symptoms of liver disease such as:

  • Stomach pain or swelling
  • Darker coloured urine
  • Nausea or sickness
  • Jaundice

Risk factors of liver disease

There are multiple risk factors for liver disease. Having a family history of liver disease, excessive alcohol or drug use and exposure to the hepatitis virus can put you at a higher risk.

Hepatitis C is a virus that spreads by blood-to-blood contact. Tattoos and piercings done with the use of unsterile equipment can put you at risk of hepatitis C. You are also at risk of hepatitis C from unprotected sex and exposure to other people's blood and bodily fluids.

Being obese causes a build-up of excess fat in the liver. A build-up can lead to severe liver damage, including cirrhosis, where the liver stops working.

Being diagnosed with conditions such as type 2 diabetes can also put you at risk of developing liver disease.
