Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg Effervescent Tablets are fast-acting soluble tablets used to treat a variety of pains. 

 

How Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg Effervescent Tablets work

Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg Effervescent Tablets contain the active ingredients of paracetomol and codeine phosphate hemihydrate.

Paracetamol works by reducing the intensity of pain signals to the brain and reduces your temperature. 

Codeine phosphate hemihydrate belongs to a group of medicines angelistics, which are used to block pain. It acts by blocking pain and your emotional response to pain. 

 

Directions

Always use Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg Effervescent Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

Dissolve the tablets in a glass of water before taking.

 

Adults

2 tablets should be taken every 4 to 6 hours. Do not exceed more than 8 tablets in 2 hours.

 

Children aged 16 to 18 years 

1 to 2 tablets should be taken every 6 hours. Do not exceed more than 4 tablets in 24 hours. 

 

Children aged 12 to 15 years

1 tablet should be taken every 6 hours. Do not exceed more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg Effervescent Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

  • Constipation 
  • Nausea and vomiting 
  • Dizinnes, light-headedness, drowsiness and confusion 
  • Feeling overly happy (euphoria)
  • A feeling of unease or dissatisfaction 
  • Excessive shrinking of the pupils in your eyes
  • Difficulty passing water

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

Warnings

Zipamol Plus 8mg/500mg may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

 

  • You are taking medicines to treat depression called MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) or if you have taken them in the last 14 days. 
  • You are under 18 and you have had your tonsils or adenoids removed due to obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome.
  • You know that you rapidly metabolise codeine into morphine. 

 

Zipamol Plus is not recommended in adolescents over 12 years-old with breathing problems. 

 

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if: 

 

  • You have severe kidney or liver problems. 
  • You have liver problems caused by alcohol.
  • You suffer from seizures. 
  • You have myasthenia gravis (a condition that weakens the muscles)

 

Do not take any other product that contains paracetamol when taking these tablets. 

 

Do not use these tablets for more than 3 days.

Using/taking other medicines

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have taken any other medications in the last 14 days, in particular:

 

  • Medicines that make you drowsy or sleepy.
  • Medicines used to treat anxiety or anastetics. 
  • Medicines for depression such as dosulepin, mirtazapine (tricyclic) or chlorpromazine (phenothiazines).
  • Medicines known as tranquillisers or hypnotics. 
  • Sleeping tablets, sedatives and antihistamines. 
  • Medicines used to thin the blood such as warfarin.
  • Chloramphenicol, which is an antibiotic used to treat infections. 
  • Flucloxacillin. 
  • Metoclopramide or domperidone which is used to stop nausea and vomiting. 
  • Colestyramine, which is used to lower the blood cholesterol levels.

 

Age restrictions 

This product is not suitable for children under 12. 

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

This product is not suitable if you are breastfeeding. Codeine passes into the breast milk. 

 

Driving and operating machinery 

Zipamol Plus can affect you ability to drive as it may make you feel sleepy or dizzy. Do not drive until you know how this medicine affects you. 

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure whether it is safe for you to drive whilst taking these tablets.

 

Storage information

Store  in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
