What is Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly Original?

Vaseline Jelly is the original skin treatment that has been around since 1872. It is made from petrolatum jelly, which is used as a skin moisturiser and also for hair grooming. It was once used as a sun cream in rat survival kits during World War 2. Today, it is used to treat dry, cracked skin and also on minor cuts and burns for relief.

What is the cause of dry skin?

Dry skin occurs when the skin’s natural protective barrier becomes damaged and as a result, it can become irritated. Causes of dry skin can include external and internal triggers. External triggers for dry skin include:

  • Hot or cold weather
  • Central heating or air conditioning
  • UV sunlight
  • Very hot water
  • Chlorine in swimming pools
  • Washing the skin too often

Some internal causes of dry skin include:

  • Ageing
  • Hormone changes
  • Diet

Not all causes of dry skin can be controlled. Therefore, it is important that the right treatment is used.

Who is Vaseline suitable for?

Vaseline is suitable to be used by anyone who is looking for a treatment that will moisturise the skin and treat minor cuts and scrapes. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to petrolatum jelly. Anyone who is using any other form of treatment should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this Vaseline?

There is no reason as to why anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding cannot use Vaseline. Though it is recommended that anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding consults a medical professional for advice before using.

How should Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly Original be used?
