What is the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen?

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen is a targeted treatment for spots and mild to moderate acne. Simply cover your spot with the end of the pen and hold it in place for a two-minute treatment which gets to work fast without using any chemicals or UV. Perfect for those who suffer with occasional breakouts and want to treat their spots directly.

How will this product help to treat my spots?

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen uses light therapy to reduce inflammation, gradually reducing the appearance of your spots from the first treatment. It also helps to kill the bacteria which cause spots, giving your pimples time to heal without being irritated further by bacteria on your skin.

How does light therapy work?

Light therapy works by using red and blue lights, which both reduce acne in different ways. The red light used in this treatment reduces the inflammation that your skin experiences when you have a spot or an acne flare up. Meanwhile, the blue light targets and kills the bacteria on your skin which cause acne. The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen uses both of these lights at the same time, creating a pink light which provides the benefits of both in one treatment. Although some may worry about the damaging effect that some light can have on your skin, these lights are free from UV, which is what causes skin damage such as sun burn.

How long does the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen take to work?

Clinical studies have shown that the light therapy used in this product can show results in as little as just one week. However, these results get better over time with best results being seen after 12 weeks of regular use, so for best results remember to use your light therapy device every day.

Does this product need batteries?

This device needs 1 x AAA battery to work and comes with a battery included. When the battery has run out, remove the cap from the bottom of the device using a Phillips type ‘O’ screwdriver and pull the silver casing away to reveal the battery. Replace the old battery with a new one, place the silver casing back into the device, and then replace the cap.

Does this treatment work on sensitive skin?

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen is perfect for all skin types, but if you’re worried about skin sensitivity, consult your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product for the first time.

What if I have frequent breakouts?

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen is perfect for those who have a few spots and want to treat them individually. However, if you have frequent breakouts and want to treat more of your skin more frequently, the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask may be a better choice for you. It provides the same light therapy treatment in a full-face mask which can treat your entire face in just one 10-minute treatment a day.

Can I use this treatment if I have severe acne?

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen is not suitable for those with severe acne, and is better for those whose breakouts could be described as mild to moderate. If you do have severe acne, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice and treatment options.

How to use the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Pen

Once the treatment is over, the pen will turn itself off automatically and will beep twice to let you know.

How often should I use this treatment?
