What is Skinoren?
Skinoren cream is a treatment for acne that’s affecting your face, back, or chest. It targets a type of bacteria that causes spots and inflammation, effectively reducing spots and controlling your breakouts. If you have severe acne or have found that over the counter treatments aren’t helping to clear up your skin, Skinoren cream might be right for you.
How to use this acne cream
Before using this product, wash the whole area you want to treat, with plain, clean water. If your skin is greasy you can use a mild cleanser. Dry your skin thoroughly after cleansing. The amount of Skinoren cream you will need to use will depend on the area you wish to treat. For example, a 2.5cm strip of cream will be able to treat the whole of your face, if you need to treat your chest or back or more than one area at one you should change the increase the amount of cream you use accordingly. If you’re unsure how much cream to use, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Apply the cream to the area of skin you wish to treat and gently rub it in. Wash your hands thoroughly after each application. You should apply this cream regularly, but if your skin is sensitive you should start with one application every evening for the first week before increasing to twice a day.
What can I use this cream for?
Skinoren cream is an acne treatment and which is designed to help reduce inflammation and the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. It can be used to treat acne on your face, back, or chest, easing your flare-ups and helping you to feel more comfortable. Can I use this treatment for rosacea?
Skinoren cream is an acne treatment and should not be used to treat other skin conditions like rosacea. Although inflammation and small pus-filled bumps are both symptoms of rosacea, the causes of rosacea and acne are quite different, meaning that Skinoren isn’t the right treatment for both. If you do have rosacea and need treatment to help manage your symptoms, you should speak to your doctor and ask for their advice.
How will the azelaic acid in Skinoren 20% treat my acne?
Azelaic acid is the active ingredient in Skinoren cream and it works by killing a bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes (P.acnes). This bacteria is known to cause inflammation and the development of pus in acne sufferers, leaving you with whiteheads and spots as well as redness. By killing P.acnes, azelaic acid helps to reduce your acne by targeting its source. It also helps to reduce the build-up of harder skin cells so they can’t block your pores and cause whiteheads or blackheads, giving you a two-pronged approach to your acne treatment.
Will this cream help with acne scars?
If you try to pick or squeeze your spots too often or with too much force this can leave you with permanent scarring or marking. By reducing flare-ups of blackheads and whiteheads, Skinoren can help to reduce your risk of developing scars as there will simply be less temptation to squeeze or pick at your pimples. However, it’s important to be aware that this product isn’t a scar treatment and will not reduce the appearance of scars you already have, it merely reduces the chances of acne scars developing by treating the acne itself.
What is acne?
Acne is a common skin condition which makes your skin oily, inflamed, and spotty. Anyone can experience acne, but it’s particularly common in teenagers because of their hormonal changes, it’s also common during pregnancy or your menstrual cycle for the same reason. Acne usually happens on your face, back, or chest, and causes whiteheads, blackheads, and other types of spots, the appearance of which can make you feel subconscious and affect your confidence. Acne will usually go away by itself in time, but you may find that you need treatment to help keep it under control until it’s done. If your acne is mild or moderate you will often be able to manage it with over the counter or shop-bought remedies, but if your acne is more severe you may find that a prescription treatment will be a better choice for you.
