Aknemycin Plus Solution is a topical treatment for acne. It contains the two active ingredients, erythromycin which is an antibiotic that kills the germs found in acne and reduces the inflammation of your skin, and tretinoin, which encourages the layer of dead and hardened skin cells that form on the skin surface to peel. At the same time, it clears the blackheads which block your pores and cause spots to form. Once the pores are unblocked, sebum can escape so that germ activity is reduced. Aknemycin Plus Solution also helps to dissolve away the excess oil in your skin.
Directions
Always use Aknemycin Plus Solution exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. The container has an applicator which allows a simple, hygienic and economic application. Before each use, press the top of the screw cap onto the foam pad until you feel a click, then invert the bottle so that the solution wets the applicator pad, then wipe the applicator over the affected skin areas. Normally you should apply Aknemycin Plus Solution once or twice daily as advised by your doctor. After use the applicator will close again automatically.
Carry on using Aknemycin Plus Solution for as long as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. The length of time depends on the condition of your skin but this will normally be between 9 and 12 weeks. It is important that you use Aknemycin Plus regularly. There may not be any improvement in your skin condition for several weeks after starting the treatment.

What type of acne do I have?
There are different types of acne and different levels of severity. The different types of spots include blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.
Your acne may be deemed as severe if you develop nodules (large, hard, painful lumps that build up beneath the surface of the skin) or cysts (large, pus-filled lumps that look similar to boils).
At this stage, you should seek advice from your GP for expert treatment to avoid scarring, especially if it’s making you feel very unhappy.
