What is Kelo-Cote Scar Gel?

Kelo-Cote Scar Gel is used to treat and prevent hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from burns, general surgical procedures and trauma wounds. This gel helps to soften and flatten scars, reduce redness, relieve itching, and better yet, it offers SPF 30 protection.

How to use this product

Always use this product exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. For new scars start treatment as soon as the wound is closed or the stitches have been removed. Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry.

Then, apply a very thin layer of gel onto the scar twice a day, do not rub it in. The gel will self-dry within 5 minutes, forming a flexible, waterproof, transparent layer – remove any excess product if it does not dry completely. Once dry, sunblock and cosmetics can be applied. Recommended minimum treatment time is 60-90 days. If improvement still occurs after 90 days, continued use is recommended.

How does Kelo-Cote Scar Gel work?

Kelo-Cote Gel with SPF30 is an advanced formula of silicone gel that’s been specifically developed to help protect scars against the effects of the sun. That’s important because scars don’t contain melanin – the pigment that protects your skin from UV radiation. So, if they’re left exposed to the sun, scars can experience sun-induced redness and hyper-pigmentation.

So if you’ve got a scar – or you’re due to undergo surgery – on a part of your body exposed to the sun, like your face or hands, choose this gel to not only help to improve the appearance of scars and reduce redness, it also contains SPF30 sunscreen, which absorbs up to 97% of UVB radiation and protects it from the sun.

Is Kelo-Cote Scar Gel suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new product.
