What is Exorex Lotion?

Exorex Lotion is what is known as a cutaneous emulsion. This is only suitable for external use on the skin and helps to reduce itching and inflammation of the skin caused by psoriasis. The active ingredient is coal tar solution.


What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin condition that is identified by the red, flaky, crusty patches of skin that appear mainly on the knees, elbows, scalp, and lower back. Psoriasis is a lifetime condition that the effects of which can come and go. No known cure will completely remove the condition. Psoriasis is caused when skin cells are produced much faster than normal. This build-up of cells is what causes the symptoms associated with the condition. 


Who is Exorex Lotion suitable for?

Exorex is suitable for adults and children who want relief from irritated skin. You should not use this lotion if you are allergic to the ingredients in it.

You should also not use this lotion if you:

  • You suffer from inflammation of the hair follicles or acne
  • Have skin that reacts badly to direct sunlight
  • You suffer from a condition called lupus erythematosus
  • You have broken skin or open wounds

Is it suitable for someone pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this lotion.


How often should I be using Exorex Lotion?

You should apply it two or times a day to the affected area. Make sure that the skin is clean before use.


Are there any side effects?

Like many medicines, a side effect may occur, which will most likely be as a result of an allergic reaction. If you do notice an allergic reaction, contact your doctor as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect using the MHRA's Yellow Card Scheme.


Do I need a prescription to buy?

No, you do not need a prescription.
