Dermacort 0.1% Hydrocortisone Cream 15g

£4.25

What is Hydrocortisone Cream and when is it used?

The active ingredient is 0.1 % Hydrocortisone, in a lanolin-free cream base that is quickly absorbed into the skin to treat the irritation that causes itching. Dermacort reduces swelling and redness and allows healing.

How will it treat my symptoms

Dermacort can be used for the treatment of skin irritations, dermatitis and rashes due to reactions to plants, insect bites, jewelry, toiletries, deodorants, soaps and detergents. It may also be used for the treatment of mild to moderate eczema.

Can I buy Hydrocortisone Cream Over the Counter?

You can buy certain pack sizes and doses over the counter in the UK. You don’t need a prescription to buy this dose, but a pharmacist will need to ensure the treatment is suitable and safe for you.

What causes skin irritation?

An itch is often caused by a condition affecting the skin. There are number of different reasons you can have a skin irritation:

  • Allergies and skin reactions
  • Parasites and insects
  • Infections

In women, itching can sometimes be caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy and after the menopause.

Does Hydrocortisone Cream cause any side effects?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop using Dermacort and tell your doctor immediately if you find that your skin condition gets worse, you develop a generalised rash or your skin becomes swollen during treatment. You may be allergic to the cream, have an infection or need other treatment.

What is the recommended dosage of this treatment?

Adults and children over 10 years should:

  • Apply a thin layer to cover the affected area once or twice a day
  • You should find that two fingertips of cream will treat both hands or one foot. And three fingertips of cream will treat one arm.
  • You should only apply the cream to the affected areas
  • Rub in gently until the cream disappears
  • Wash your hands before and after application, unless used for treating the hands

How should I store this cream?

Do not use Dermacort after the expiry date stamped on the tube and the pack. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Dermacort should be stored in a cool, dry place.

Why do I need to fill in an online questionnaire to buy this product?

Some over the counter medicines are only allowed to be sold under the supervision of a pharmacist. Hydrocortisone Cream is one of these medicines.

Just like when you buy this medicine in a high street or local pharmacy, the pharmacist will need to ask you a few questions. This is a legal requirement for selling this type of medicine.

You may not always realise when your local pharmacist asks you the required questions, as this can sometimes be done subtly. When sold online, we need to make sure our pharmacists have all the information they need to ensure this treatment is right for you.

Simply fill in the short questionnaire and add the product to cart. Then proceed to checkout.
