What is Care Simple Linctus Paediatric?

Care Simple Linctus Paediatric is a liquid solution that is intended to provide relief for dry, irritating coughs. It works thanks to the active ingredient which is citric acid monohydrate. Citric acid works by being absorbed into the throat and coats it, relieving the effects of a cough. Citric acid is found naturally in the body and is often used as a pH control agent in certain types of food.

 

What causes a cough?

A cough is usually the result of a cold or the flu. In these instances, the cough is a body response to mucus being stuck in the throat or the chest. A dry cough does not produce any mucus or phlegm and is less common. It can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious condition such as lung disease.

 

Who is this cough syrup suitable for?

This cough syrup is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 1 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the medicine. If you using medication for another condition, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this medicine?

This medicine should not be used by anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding unless they are told to do so by a doctor.

 

How should Care Simple Linctus Paediatric be used?

Take the solution orally. For children aged 1-5, give them a 5ml spoonful of the solution up to four times a day if needed. For anyone above the age of 6, double to dosage to 10ml.

 

Are there any side effects?

If used correctly, any side effect should not occur. If not used properly, then there could be side effects. These side effects include:

  • A headache
  • Stomach upset
  • Diarrhoea

If you notice any side effect, then stop using this medicine and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect you discover using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
