What is Acriflex?

Acriflex is a cream which can be used to soothe minor burns, scalds, scratches, sunburn blisters, and other minor skin conditions. It’s perfect for people of all ages, keeping the area clean and helping to prevent infections in broken skin.

What is a burn?

Burns happen when your skin gets damaged by dry heat, for example, touching a hot pan, an iron, or fire. Burns can be minor or very serious, and although minor burns can be treated at home, more serious burns will need professional medical attention. When you have a burn, you may notice the following symptoms:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Blisters
  • Peeling skin
  • White or charred skin

How will Acriflex cream help to soothe burns?

Acriflex cream contains the active ingredient chlorhexidine gluconate, which is an antibacterial agent. This means that it kills bacteria on your skin which can aggravate minor burns, scalds, or other skin conditions. This helps to prevent infection as your skin heals.

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some medications may not be suitable for you and your baby at this time, and a medical professional may wish to recommend another product.

How to use this cream

Apply Acriflex cream freely to the affected area, smoothing gently over the affected skin. If necessary, cover the area with a dressing.

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Acriflex Cream if you are allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate or any of the other listed ingredients. For external use only, do not use in body cavities, e.g. mouth, vagina, inner ear. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use this cream if you have an operation, as contact with the brain, spinal cord, and middle inner ear should be avoided.

Does this cream have any side effects?

Like all medicines, Acriflex cream can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. If you experience any of the following side effects, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction and should stop use and seek medical help immediately:

  • Swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or throat
