Buy BioSURE Thyroid Function Test

The BioSURE thyroid function test is a home thyroid testing kit that analyses the three key biomarkers (TSH, T3 & T4) to check if your thyroid is functioning properly.

Knowing your thyroid levels by using the thyroid test at home will tell you if you are in the normal range and if you should seek medical advice or treatment.

Having an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) can cause a range of different symptoms.

How to use

When you receive the test kit, all you need to do is take a simple finger prick sample, using the lancets that are provided in the box. Once you have done this, you can then register it online and post your kit to the laboratory using the envelope enclosed.

Your results are reviewed by the in-house GPs who will highlight any cause for concern that may need further investigation by your doctor. You will receive your full report via email, showing your results and how they compare with the normal reference ranges. You should expect to get your results the day after the lab receives your sample.

What is hyperthyroidism?

Hyperthyroidism is when you have a thyroid gland that is overactive, meaning it will produce excess thyroxine. This can affect the majority of organs in your body as it is the hormone that controls the metabolism.

Symptoms of hyperthyroidism can include:

  • Unintentional weight loss and increased appetite (even when you are eating the same amount of food)
  • Anxiety and mood swings
  • Pounding of your heart (palpitations)
  • Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Racing heart of more than 100 beats per minute (tachycardia)

When left untreated, hyperthyroidism can cause severe health problems and can also affect your fertility and menstrual cycle.

What is hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism is when you have an underactive thyroid gland that does not produce enough thyroxine. This can slow your metabolism down, affecting your entire body.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism can include:

  • Weight gain (even when your food intake does not increase)
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Depression
  • Sensitivity to the cold
  • Dry skin and a puffy face
  • Muscle aches and pains or stiffness in your joints

Extremely low thyroid levels can be serious as they cause a dangerously low body temperature, confusion, heart failure and a coma.

If left untreated, hypothyroidism can cause obesity, heart disease and infertility.

Who should use this kit?

If you find yourself suffering from symptoms caused by an overactive or underactive thyroid gland, then it is a good idea to check. This test can also be used if you already have a diagnosed thyroid problem to monitor your levels.
