What is Oilesen Vitamin D3 400?
Oilesen Vitamin D3 400 is a food supplement which is intended to provide vitamin D3 for babies and young children. It is formed with a basis of extra virgin olive oil and contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, muscles, function of the immune system and the absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.
Why is Vitamin D3 important?
Vitamin D is important for good health, strong bones and muscles. Unlike other vitamins, we do not need to get Vitamin D from the food we eat, as our main source is made by our skin in response to sunlight. Although it is classified as a vitamin, D3 transforms into a hormone in the body and circulates in the bloodstream to help absorb calcium and phosphorous. If we do not get enough Vitamin D, we can feel tired and our muscles can feel weak or ache. Severe Vitamin D deficiency can cause osteomalacia, which makes our bones softer and causes severe bone pain and muscle weakness.
Vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to several health problems such as:
- Osteoporosis
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Autoimmune conditions
- Heart disease
Vitamin D deficiency in children
Children need Vitamin D for growth and development. Children who have a Vitamin D deficiency can develop rickets which can cause permanent deformities to the bone, weaken muscles and reduce growth.
Who is most at risk of Vitamin D deficiency?
Vitamin D deficiency is very common in the UK due to a lack of adequate sunlight, but some people are more at risk than others:
- Babies and young children- especially children who spend little time playing outside
- People over 65 years of age
- Anyone who spends very little time outside during the summer
- People who are housebound
- People who are obese or significantly overweight
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women
How does Oilesen D3 work?
This product is designed to be a convenient way to add more Vitamin D into your lifestyle. The dropper makes it easy to administer this product to children. It helps to contribute to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, muscle function and the function of the immune system and the absorption of calcium. 1 drop of Oilesen D3 contains 10 μg of vitamin D3.
How to take this product
This product is suitable to be taken from birth. It is recommended to take 1 drop per day to be taken with a meal, mixed in a drink or directly into the mouth with the dropper.

Storage
Protect from heat and moisture. Do not store above 25°C. Store out of the sight and reach of children.
