What is TheiCal-D3?

TheiCal-D3 chewable tablets are a supplement which contains vitamin D3 and calcium. They’re ideal for those who are at risk of vitamin D deficiency, especially elderly people. These tablets can also be used to help support the treatment of osteoporosis, or brittle bones. These chewable tablets don’t need to be taken with food or a drink, and have a tasty orange flavour that makes them ideal for taking whenever, wherever.

Why does my body need vitamin D and calcium?

Vitamin D and calcium are essential nutrients which work together to support your bones, teeth, and muscles. Vitamin D helps to regulate the amount of calcium in your body, promoting healthy teeth and bones. If you have a calcium or vitamin D deficiency you could be at risk of developing a condition called osteomalacia, or rickets in children.

How much vitamin D and calcium are in these tablets?

Each TheiCal-D3 chewable tablet contains 2,500mg of calcium carbonate, which provides the equivalent of 1,000mg of calcium. They also contain 8.8mg of choleaciferol concentrate, which provides the equivalent of 880 I.U. of vitamin D3.

Can I take these tablets if I’m already taking medication?

If you’re taking any other medications, including those obtained without a prescription and herbal remedies, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking TheiCal-D3. This especially applies if you are already taking:

  • Cardiac glycosides, especially digitalis glycosides

  • Thiazide diuretics (water tablets)

  • Tetracycline antibiotics, e.g. doxycycline, tetracycline, minocycline

  • Sodium fluoride

  • Cholestyramine

  • Laxatives such as liquid paraffin

  • Phenytoin or barbiturates

  • Glucocorticoids (cortisone)

  • Levothyroxine

  • Quinolone antibiotics, e.g. ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, moxifloxacin

Can I take these tablets if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking TheiCal-D3 tablets. This product may be right for you if you have a calcium or vitamin D deficiency, but you should follow a medical professional’s advice carefully to help you be sure that you’re doing the best thing for you and your baby.
