Slow Sodium 600mg Tablets are slow-release sodium tablets which are used to treat and prevent sodium chloride deficiencies.
How Slow Sodium 600mg Tablets work
These tablets contain the active ingredient sodium chloride (salt). After taking a tablet, the formula is slowly released into the body to increase sodium levels gradually.
Directions
Always take Slow Sodium 600mg Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
To prevent sodium chloride deficiency, 8-10 tablets should be taken daily.
For cases of severe salt loss, you can take up to 20 tablets a day.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Slow Sodium 600mg Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. There are no known reported side effects of this product.
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Slow Sodium 600mg Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
- You have fluid retention
- You have heart disease
- You have heart failure
- You have aldosteronism
- You are having treatment to produce salt and water loss, usually if you have fluid retention, heart failure or high blood pressure
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
- You have a condition of the intestines where narrowing may occur
- You have a problem with drinking enough water
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking these tablets.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking furosemide, bumetanide or metolazone, which are all used to treat high blood pressure.
Age restrictions
For use in children, please talk to your healthcare provider for advice.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Storage information
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
