How will this product help to ease my muscle aches and pains?
Voltarol medicated plasters contain the active ingredient diclofenac sodium, which is part of a group of medicines known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, or NSAIDs. This means that these plasters work as pain relief, but can also help to reduce swelling and inflammation.
How to use Voltarol medicated plasters
Cut the sachet along the dotted line and remove the Voltarol medicated plaster. Remove one of the two protective films from the back of the plaster and apply to the affected area. Remove the second protective film and apply slight pressure using the palm until the plaster has stuck to the skin. Apply one Voltarol medicated plaster twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
When should Voltarol medicated plasters not be used?
Voltarol medicated plasters are not suitable for use by children under the age of 16. Do not use this product if you are allergic to diclofenac, any other NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen, aspirin), or any of the other listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. Do not use Voltarol medicated plasters if you:
- Have ever developed asthma attacks, hives, or swelling and irritation inside the nose after taking acetylsalicylic acid or any other NSAID
- Are suffering from an active stomach or intestinal ulcer
- Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
- Wish to treat a diseased, broken, or otherwise sensitive area of skin
Speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you:
- Suffer from disorders of the kidneys, heart, or liver
- Suffer or have previously suffered from a stomach or intestinal ulcer, intestinal inflammation, or a tendency to bleeding
- Are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or are breastfeeding
- Are elderly, as you may be more likely to experience side effects

Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medicines, Voltarol medicated plasters can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. These side effects include:
- Allergic reactions, e.g. itchy rash (hives), swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth, or throat, difficulty breathing, drop in blood pressure, weakness
- Local skin reactions, e.g. skin redness, burning sensation, inflamed skin, redness, skin rash, sometimes with pustules or wheals
- Contact dermatitis
If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.
