What is Savlon Antiseptic Cream?

Savlon Antiseptic Cream is a treatment that is designed to be used in order to cleanse and prevent infection in a number of different types of cuts and lesions on the skin, including minor disorders on the skin, burns, blisters and wounds. The active ingredients in this cream are cetrimide and chlorhexidine digluconate. Both of these are antiseptics that help to reduce the risk of infection on the skin.

 

What can cause a skin infection?

A skin infection can be caused by a number of different types of infection. Skin infections can be caused by one of the following:

  • Bacteria
  • Viruses
  • Fungi
  • Parasites

Having cuts and wounds on the make it more likely for the skin to become infected. Anyone who has blood circulation, diabetes, or a weakened immune system is more likely to experience an infection.

 

Who is this Savlon Cream suitable to be used by?

Anyone who is looking to restore natural, healthy skin can use this cream. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained in the cream. If you are using any other form of medication, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this Savlon Cream?

There is not enough evidence to determine either way whether Savlon is safe to use when pregnant or breastfeeding. Therefore, it is recommended that anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding consults with a medical professional before using.

 

How should Savlon Antiseptic Cream be used?

To use this cream, apply it any skin that is infected or at risk of infection. Do not use on the eyes or ears. Do not use soap when using this cream. If symptoms persist when using this cream, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist. Store the cream below 25°C and do not use after 12 months of opening it, or after the expiry date shown on the packaging.

 

Are there any side effects?

Like with any type of medicine, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when using this cream include:

  • Skin irritation
  • An anaphylactic shock
  • Urticaria
  • A rash
  • Blisters
  • Eczema or dermatitis
