Xylocaine 10mg Anaesthetic Spray is a medication that is used to numb specific areas of the body before a medical procedure. 

Xylocaine is mostly used for medical examinations of the nose, throat, stomach or lungs. It is also used for minor procedures involving the nose and throat.

Please note, this product comes with a single-use disposable nozzle.

 

How Xylocaine 10mg Anaesthetic Spray works

Xylocaine 10mg Anaesthetic Spray works by producing a temporary loss of sensation in the desired part of the body. 

 

Directions

Always use Xylocaine 10mg Anaesthetic Spray exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

Before you use the spray, the bottle should be primed by pressing the piston once or twice. 

The dose depends on the size of the area and the procedure involved. Your healthcare team will choose the dose that is suitable for you. 

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Xylocaine may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

  • Skin rash or irritation
  • Drowsiness

 

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

 

Warnings

Xylocaine may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have any of the following: 

 

  • Epilepsy
  • Heart problems 
  • Liver problems 
  • Kidney problems 
  • Open wounds or infection



Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

 

Food and drink

Do not eat or drink anything for at least 1 hour after using the spray in the mouth or throat area.

 

Driving and operating machinery 

Be careful when driving or operating machinery as you may feel drowsy and your reflexes may be slow.

 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
