What is Psoriderm Scalp Lotion Shampoo?

Psoriderm Scalp Lotion Shampoo is a treatment that is intended to provide relief for the effects of scalp psoriasis. The active ingredient in this shampoo is distilled coal tar. Distilled coal tar works by stopping any itching that occurs and helps to promote normal skin development. It also has antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

What causes scalp psoriasis?

Scalp psoriasis occurs on the scalp and causes red, dry, skin that is covered in scales. Like other types of psoriasis, scalp psoriasis is caused by cell production, and skin cells being replaced too quickly. The reason why this happens isn’t known at this time, but it is believed to be caused by the immune system. The normal time between replacing skin cells is 3-4 weeks, but with people with psoriasis, this is reduced to 3-7 days. This is what causes the effects of psoriasis.

Who is this shampoo suitable for?

This shampoo is suitable to be used by adults and children. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the shampoo. It should also not be used on any psoriasis affected skin that is sore, or on pustular psoriasis. Do not use on infected skin. This shampoo is safe to use when using any other type of medication.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this shampoo?

There should not be any issues when using this shampoo when pregnant or breastfeeding.

How should Psoriderm Scalp Lotion Shampoo be used?

Apply the shampoo to wet hair. Use only a small amount of shampoo and apply it to the scalp. Massage it into the scalp with the tips of the fingers and then leave it for a few minutes. Then, remove as much lather as possible with the hands and then rinse it off. Repeat the steps and then dry the hair as normal.

Are there any side effects?

There is a chance of side effects when using this shampoo. This shampoo could cause the following side effects:

  • Skin irritation
  • Acne-like symptoms
  • Skin sensitivity

If you notice any side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
