What is dry skin?

Dry Skin is a condition that can affect anyone. Dry skin happens when the skin barrier is damaged and moisture escapes the skin. This then causes the skin to become dry which can increase the risk of irritation and infection. Causes of dry skin include skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, as well as environmental conditions like hot or cold weather. A family history of dry skin also makes it more likely, as does hormonal changes as well as ageing. Not all causes can be controlled.
