What is a perm?
A perm is a method that changes the texture of the hair by winding it into curls or waves using tools such as a perming rod or rollers. Two chemical solutions are then added to the hair in order to create the perm. The first solution that is added to the hair is a waving lotion which softens the hair in order to shape it to the perming rod or roller. This is followed by adding a neutraliser which reforms the bonds in the hair and hardens it to hold the shape, which creates the permanent (‘perm’) curl or wave which remains even after washing.

Once perms are applied, the results can last from 6 weeks to 18 months depending on the length of your hair and how tight the curl is.
How does Pin-Up Perm work?
Pin-Up Perm has been used to style hair since 1945 and contains high quality ingredients and an easy application method, so you can get beautiful curls in the comfort of your home. Pin-Up Full Head contains both the waving lotion and neutraliser to provide all over curls. They can be used with perm rods to create many different types of curls from tight ringlets to beachy waves.
How to use Pin-Up Perm for long-lasting curls
Wash your hair and dry with a towel. Comb through your hair so it is smooth. After winding your hair around the perming rods, apply the waving lotion to relax the hair. After saturating the rods with waving lotion, tightly wrap the hair in cling film and wrap a towel around the head to trap in heat. Now allow to develop and test a curl as instructed in ‘The Perm Guide’. Once you have achieved your desire test curl, plot all of the rods carefully with kitchen paper to remove excess waving lotion. Rinse the hair with warm water and ensure each rod has been rinsed and patted to shake out any waving lotion left behind during rinsing. After the rods have been thoroughly rinsed, carefully wrap your head in a towel and patt the excess moisture from the rods. Leave the hair to rest for 45 minutes to an hour before applying the neutraliser. After the hair has rested, remove the towel and apply the neutraliser directly to the rods using the applicator nozzle provided. Leave the solution to develop for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, you can begin to remove the rods from the hair. Apply some neutraliser solution to the palms of you hands gently scrunch your new curls and leave to develop for a further 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, rinse the hair to remove any remaining neutraliser. Lightly towel dry the hair and leave to dry naturally. As the hair dries, keep scrunching the curls to prevent any moisture weighing the hair down.
