What is Lactacyd Daily Protective Wash?
Lactacyd Daily Protective Wash is a gentle, soap-free cleanser for your intimate areas. It can be incorporated into your normal daily washing or shower routine. The soothing formula contains lactic acid which helps to maintain a healthy pH balance within the vagina and provides a defence against irritation. Lactacyd Wash will help you to stay fresh and free from discomfort and provide natural protection from causes of intimate irritation, to keep you feeling clean and comfortable.
Why is it important to keep your intimate areas clean?
The vagina is an organ that is designed to keep itself clean through using natural secretions (discharge) to flush out foreign bodies or harmful substances. There are lots of bacteria inside the vagina that work to protect it and keep it healthy. They outnumber other harmful bacteria, preventing an overgrowth of bad bacteria. Good bacteria help to keep the vagina’s pH balance even and they reduce or kill other bacteria entering the vagina by preventing them from sticking to the vagina walls. However, sometimes the balance of bacteria in the vagina is disturbed which can lead to infections such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, which can cause itching, irritation and unusual discharge. It’s a good idea to keep the vulva (external part of the vagina) clean as part of your daily washing routine, to prevent build up of harmful bacteria. During the day our bodies sweat and this can cause a build-up of bacteria, which can result in infection, unpleasant odours and discomfort. Washing the outside of the vagina can help to remove sweat build-up and help prevent harmful bacteria from entering the vagina. Remember that the inside of the vagina is self-cleaning, so doesn’t require any additional cleaning.
Why should you use products that do not contain perfume or soap?
It is recommended to use soap and perfume-free products on the vagina as this can affect the balance of good bacteria within the vagina which can result in irritation and discomfort. Try to use plain and unperfumed soaps to wash the area around the vagina. There is no need to use douches to clean the inside of the vagina, as these can flush out vaginal secretions and the healthy bacteria. There is no evidence to suggest that douching protects against STIs or vaginal infections, in fact it may do the opposite and cause your vagina to become more vulnerable to infection, as it reduces the level of good, protective bacteria.
How can Lactacyd keep your intimate areas clean?
The active ingredient in Lacatcyd is lactic acid, which the vagina produces naturally to protect the vagina from irritation and maintain its natural pH balance. Environmental factors such as bubble bath, soap, deodorants, tight clothing, sexual intercourse, periods, anxiety and excessive washing can disrupt this natural balance which can cause the vagina to feel uncomfortable or irritated. Lactacyd provides natural protection from sources of irritation whilst keeping the external part of the vagina clean and fresh. The caring formula is gentle enough to be used as part of your daily washing routine and is free from soaps and perfumes.
How to use Lactacyd?
Use Lactacyd during your bathing or showering routine, as you would use a body wash. Dilute the product with a little water and apply to the external part of your vagina with your hand, flannel or sponge. You can use this product to clean the entire external area of your vagina. Take care not to rub too vigorously or use flannels/sponges that are unclean or have harsh textures to prevent infection and irritation. Rinse the area thoroughly after applying the product.
When NOT to use this product
Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list). This product is NOT suitable for use inside the vagina or as an internal vaginal douche. If this product causes irritation or allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately. If irritation persists, seek medical advice. If you still notice any unusual symptoms from your intimate areas, such as discharge, discomfort or an unpleasant odour after using this product, seek advice from your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist, as this may be a sign of an infection that needs to be treated.
