What is Simple Eye Ointment?

Simple Eye Ointment is a treatment for minor eye conditions and irritation, lubricating your eye and protecting it from irritation. This ointment can be used whenever you need it to soothe your eyes as they heal, and is especially effective at night, as it stays in the eye longer than average eye drops.

 

When would I use this ointment?

Simple Eye Ointment can be used to ease a number of minor eye conditions, including:

  • Redness and swelling
  • Scratches on the cornea
  • Decreased sensitivity of the cornea
  • During eye surgery
  • Sticky eyes
  • Inflammation of the eyelids

 

How will Simple Eye Ointment treat my eye condition?

Simple Eye Ointment soothes minor eye condition by working as a lubricant. It hydrates your eye and offers protection as it heals, also working to soften crusts that can form on your eyelid when you’re suffering with conditions like sticky eyes.

 

Can I drive after using this ointment?

When you’ve used this ointment, you may experience temporary blurred vision. Do not attempt to drive or use tools or machinery unless you are absolutely sure that you are not affected in this way.

 

Can I use this product if I’m wearing contact lenses?

You should not wear contact lenses while you’re using Simple Eye Ointment. If you wear contact lenses and want to be able to wear them throughout your treatment, speak to your doctor, Chemist 4 U pharmacist, or optician and ask them to recommend another, more suitable product.

 

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Simple Eye Ointment is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this or any other medication at this time, to be sure that it’s safe for both you and your baby.

 

Can I use this ointment if I’m taking other medication?

There are currently no known interactions between this ointment and any other medication. However, of you are taking other medication, including those you obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product to be sure that they’re safe to use together.

 

How to use this ointment

Before using this product, wash your hands well. Tilt your head back and look up at the ceiling, then use one hand to gently pull down the lower eyelid of the affected eye, forming a pocket between your eye and eyelid. Using the other hand, gently squeeze the tube to release a thin line of ointment into your eye. Blink a few times to disperse the ointment over your eye. Repeat in the other eye if necessary. Wash your hands again after use.

 

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Simple Eye Ointment if you’re allergic to any of the listed ingredients. This product contains anhydrous lanolin, which is also known as wool fat. This can cause local skin reactions, such as contact dermatitis.

 

Does this ointment have any side effects?

Like all medications, Simple Eye Ointment can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include:

  • Blurred vision
  • Skin reactions

How to store this product

Store in a cool, dry place. Do not use if expiry date printed on the original packaging has passed. Once opened, use within 4 weeks. Keep out of sight and reach of children.

This is an eye ointment that is used by my husband. We used to be able to buy it at a local chemist for a few pounds. For some reason it is now only available online for lots of money.
