What is DioraByota S.Boulardii?

DioraByota S.Boulardii is a strawberry flavoured food supplement containing live probiotic cultures that can support the levels of good bacteria in your gut.

Ongoing scientific research suggests that certain types of live bacteria, including S.boulardii, may be able to treat and prevent a range of conditions and illnesses.

These DioraByota sachets also include fructo-oligosaccharides as an added source of dietary fibre that may further help support the good bacteria in your gut. Vitamin B6 and B12 have also been included.

What is the recommended dosage?

The recommended dose of DioraByota S.Boulardii is one sachet per day, for adults and children over the age of 3. You should pour the powder directly into your mouth, but for children between 3 and 6, the powder may be dissolved in a small glass of water.

DioraByota S.Boulardii sachets are orodispersible, meaning they will dissolve in your mouth without the need for water.

How does S.boulardii work?

S.boulardii, or Saccharomyces boulardii, is a probiotic. Probiotics are a type of ‘friendly bacteria’ that can be used to potentially prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the stomach and intestines.

What are the benefits of probiotics?

Probiotics, commonly found in ‘gut friendly’ products like yoghurt, are becoming increasingly popular. They are thought to restore the natural balance of bacteria in your gut when it’s been disrupted by an illness or treatment, such as antibiotic treatment.

Some research suggests that probiotics, specifically S.boulardii, may be able to treat and prevent a range of symptoms and conditions, including:

  • Travellers’ Diarrhoea

  • Diarrhoea caused by antibiotics

  • Bowel regularity in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Inflammatory bowel disorder (IBD)

  • Leaky gut

Probiotics are not scientifically proven to work for everyone, but they are generally a safe option for most people and may be worth a try.

They are sometimes recommended to people who are having to take antibiotics, due to growing evidence that probiotics may reduce the chance of unpleasant gastrointestinal side effects that are often associated with antibiotics.

Who is DioraByota suitable for?

DioraByota S.Boulardii Sachets are suitable for most adults and children over the age of 3. They are not, however, recommended for children under 3 or pregnant and breastfeeding women.

If you are unsure whether DioraByota right for you, particularly if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking any medications, speak to your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist for expert advice.
