Dentek Orabrush® Tongue Scraper
What is Dentek OraBrush® Tongue Scraper?
Dentek OraBrush® Tongue Scraper is an important tool in your oral hygiene routine. It is used to clean and remove bacteria from the tongue to fight bad breath. The OraBrush® tongue cleaner is designed to be gentle yet effective with its ultra-soft, micro-pointed bristles that reach all parts of the tongue, even the tiny crevices where bacteria collect. As you scrape, it collects and removes the bacteria.
How to use the OraBrush® tongue cleaner
Moisten the tongue before you begin cleaning. Simply brush the scraper back and forth along your tongue and side to side making sure to reach the back of the tongue. This will loosen the bacteria, and you can then rinse your mouth to remove the residue.
How often should it be replaced?
Dentek OraBrush® Tongue Scraper should be replaced every 3-4 months. In order to get maximum use out of this product, clean it after every use by holding it under a tap of running water and allowing it to air dry.
Why do you need to clean your tongue?
Tongue cleaning is often a missed step in oral care but should be routine just like brushing your teeth. Dentists highly recommend cleaning the tongue to remove stubborn bacteria that cause bad breath and contribute to tooth decay. Your tongue is covered in bacteria and food debris, and rinsing isn’t enough to remove the tough layers. As bacteria and food debris accumulate on the tongue this can lead to plaque buildup which eventually causes decay and gum disease.
Brushing and lifting away the bacteria each time you brush your teeth is the most effective way of preventing buildup. Brushing or scraping the tongue back and forth, and side to side is the way to do it. Take care not to cut your tongue in the process. The Dentek OraBrush® Tongue Scraper is the ideal tool as it is soft and gentle, yet effective.
What causes bad breath?
Bad breath, medically known as halitosis, is primarily caused by bacteria from food particles that are trapped by the tongue and release a strong odour. Poor oral hygiene, such as not cleaning your teeth or tongue regularly, can lead to odour-causing bacteria buildup. Other causes of bad breath include certain medications, medical conditions such as dry mouth, tonsilitis and acid reflux, as well as smoking and crash dieting.
