What is Oral B Satin Tape?

Oral B Satin Tape is a mint flavoured dental tape that helps you to floss between your teeth and along your gum line for clean teeth and fresh breath. Ideal for those who want to be sure that their teeth are clean and fresh while still being gentle on the gums, Oral B Satin Tape slides smoothly between the teeth to reduce gum irritation.

Why is it so important to clean between your teeth?

Keeping your teeth clean and free from bacteria and left-over food is essential for your dental hygiene. If your teeth aren’t clean then plaque acids can attack your teeth, causing damage or tooth decay. Although your toothbrush is perfect for getting rid of plaque from the surface of your teeth, it can struggle to reach between your teeth and clean there, making flossing an essential part of a good dental care routine.

What happens when you have tooth decay?

Tooth decay happens when plaque, which is filled with millions of bacteria, builds up on your teeth and gums. The plaque acids can then attack your teeth, damaging them and causing tooth decay. This can give you symptoms such as:

  • A toothache, which can be a dull ache or a sharp pain
  • Sensitive teeth, which may happen when you eat hot, cold, or sweet foods
  • Discolouration, including black, brown, or grey spots forming on the teeth
  • Bad breath
  • Unpleasant taste in the mouth

What causes stains on the teeth?

Stains on the teeth are caused by certain types of food and drinks. In particular, coffee, cola, and wine are leading causes of stains. These stains are external on the teeth and occur on the enamel. This is known as extrinsic discolouration. Intrinsic discolouration is when the dentin on the inside of the tooth becomes discoloured. Causes of this include excessive fluoride use when younger and the use of tetracycline antibiotics during the second half of pregnancy as well as children under the age of 8 using them. Discolouration is also caused by ageing. Smoking can also lead to teeth losing their natural colour.

How to use Oral B Satin Tape

Remove a length of Oral B Satin Tape from the container and use to floss between your teeth and along your gum line. For best results, do this every morning and every night when you brush your teeth, this will help to keep your teeth and gums healthy and your breath smelling fresh.
