What is Care Ephedrine Nasal Drops 1%?
These nasal drops are a form of treatment that works to relieve nasal congestion. The active ingredient is ephedrine, which is a decongestant. Decongestants help to relieve a blocked nose by thinning the blood vessels that have swollen as a result of an infection or allergy.
What causes a blocked nose?
A blocked nose is caused by an infection, such as a cold or an allergy, or the flu. A blocked nose occurs when germs get into the nose through the air and are breathed in. The germs then stick to the cells at the back of the nose and cause symptoms to begin. The germs will then spread throughout the body, causing other symptoms associated with a cold or the flu.
Who is this nasal spray suitable for?
This nasal spray is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the spray. It should also not be used if any of the following applies to you:
- Taken Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), a type of antidepressant, in the last 14 days
- Taken beta-blockers for heart or blood pressure
- A heart condition or poor circulation
- An overactive thyroid gland
- Glaucoma
- Excessive levels of adrenaline in the blood
- Recently had an operation on the nose
- Difficulty passing urine
- Already using a decongestant treatment

How should Care Ephedrine Nasal Drops 1% be used?
Do not touch the glass dropper, and do not put it inside your nose. Instead, tilt your head back and drop the liquid into each nostril. Do not share the dropper. The recommended dosage is 1-2 droplets up to 4 times a day. Do not use for more than 7 days without speaking to a doctor first.
Are there any side effects?
Like with many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:
- Anxiety
- A headache
- Nausea
- Dizziness and fainting
- Irritation, dryness, and soreness in the nose
- Inflammation of the skin
- Heart palpitations
- Changes in blood circulation
