What is Spatone Liquid Iron?

Spatone Liquid Iron is a 100% natural iron supplement that you can take quickly and easily every day. They can help to release energy from the food you eat and help your body to transport oxygen. This natural source of iron is gluten free, sugar free, contains no preservatives, and is suitable for vegetarians.

How much iron is in these sachets?

Spatone Liquid Iron contains 5mg of ferrous iron (Fe2+) in every sachet. This is 36% of the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) that you are recommended to include in your diet every day, helping you to be sure that you are getting enough iron.

Why would I need to take an iron supplement?

Iron helps your body to make red blood cells, which carry oxygen around your body. Every part of your body needs oxygen to function, making iron an essential part of your daily diet. This is why many people take iron supplements every day.

How to take Spatone Liquid Iron

For adults and children over the age of 2, take one Spatone Liquid Iron sachet every day. If you are a pregnant woman, take 2 sachets every day. You can take Spatone Liquid Iron straight from the sachet or dilute into a cold drink. If you choose to dilute this into a drink, choose one that is high in Vitamin C to help with iron absorption. For best results, take on an empty stomach and allow a 30 – 45-minute gap between taking this product and eating or drinking.

When should Spatone Liquid Iron not be used?

Spatone Liquid Iron is not suitable for use by children under the age of 2. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. Food supplements should not be used in place of a balanced diet or healthy lifestyle. Speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this product if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any other medication, have an underlying medical condition, or are giving this product to a child.

What happens if I take too much iron?

If you take high doses of iron, meaning a dose that is over 20mg, then you may notice the following side effects:

  • Constipation
  • Feeling sick
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach pain

Taking too much iron can be fatal, especially if taken by small children, so always be sure to stick to the daily recommended dose of products that contain iron and keep out of reach of small children.

Is Spatone safe for me to take daily while breastfeeding my baby?

There are no known risks with taking Spatone while breastfeeding. However, it is recommended that you consult with your GP or midwife before starting any treatment.

Hi I would like to know the expiry date of these liquid iron supplements

Medicines have expiry dates so you know when to use them by. After the expiry date medicines may not be safe or as effective. You should not take medicines after their expiry date. If you've had a medicine for a while, check the expiry date before using it.

You should also make sure that you've stored the medicine properly, as described on the packaging or leaflet.

If your medicine looks, tastes or smells different to when you first got it, even if it's within the expiry date, take it to your pharmacist for advice.

The best before date, sometimes shown as BBE (best before end), is about quality and not safety. The food/supplement will be safe to consume after this date but may not be at its best. Its flavour and texture might not be as good. Best before dates appear on a wide range of foods/vitamins/supplements.

Unfortunately, we do not have an exact expiry date as our warehouse is located away from our office, however, it is usually a minimum of 6 months. unless specified in the product title.
