What are Pollenshield Cetirizine Hydrochloride Hayfever Relief Tablets?

Pollenshield Tablets are a treatment for allergies such as hayfever. They work by suppressing the allergens caused by the allergic reaction to pollen. The active ingredient of these tablets is cetirizine, which is known as an antihistamine. An antihistamine works to reduce the effects of an allergy.

What causes an allergy?

An allergy is caused when the body thinks that it has come into contact with harmful substances and produces histamines. A histamine is produced by the immune system and the central cause of many of the associated effects of an allergic reaction. A histamine regulates a number of areas in the body, including the brain. This is why many of the symptoms of an allergy as the same as other infections, such as the flu.

Who are these Pollenshield Tablets suitable for?

These tablets are suitable for anyone aged 6 and above who are suffering the effects of hayfever, or any other allergy. The tablets should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients in the tablets or anyone who has severe kidney problems. If you have epilepsy, or a difficulty when it comes to passing water, then it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using. You should also consult a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using Pollenshield if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or any other form of medication.

How many Pollenshield Tablets should be taken?

For children aged 6-12, use half a tablet twice a day. For children above 12 and adults, use one tablet twice a day.

Are there any side effects?

As with many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • A rash
  • Itching
  • Tingling
  • Diarrhoea
  • Swelling in the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Fast heartbeat
