Chlorphenamine is sedating Anti-Histamine that is generally used to treat allergies (such as hayfever, food and drug allergies, and allergic skin reactions) and also to cure itching produced by infections such as chickenpox. This medicine is also used to treat a kind of allergic reaction called Anaphylaxis. Exposure to the substances such as pollen, pet fur, peanuts, shellfish or insect bites can lead to produce a chemical known as Histamine. This chemical causes allergic symptoms such as swelling, sneezing, skin rashes, watery eyes and a blocked nose. As chlorphenamine is capable of blocking the effects of Histamine, it helps to treat these allergies successfully.
