What are Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops?
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops are a treatment for allergy symptoms in your eyes. If you have an eye allergy that causes watery, red, irritated eyes, these eye drops can help to relieve your symptoms and help you feel more comfortable. They’re easy to use and get to work quickly, helping to ease irritation and relieve perennial allergic conjunctivitis.
Why do I have allergy symptoms in my eyes?
When you have an allergy, such as a sensitivity to pet fur or dust mites, then you can experience symptoms in your eyes as a part of an allergic reaction. When you come into contact with something you’re allergic to your body releases a natural substance called histamine, which tells different parts of your body to get rid of the allergen. One of these areas is your eyes, which experience itching, redness, inflammation, and watering when histamine is released into them.
How will Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops relieve my allergy symptoms?
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops contain an active ingredient called sodium cromoglicate, which is an anti-allergic. It works by keeping histamine from being released into your eyes so it can’t cause your allergy symptoms. This treats and prevents symptoms like itching, redness, and watery eyes at the source.
Can I use these eye drops if I’m wearing contact lenses?
You should not use Opticrom Allergy eye drops if you wear soft contact lenses. These eye drops can contain benzalkonium chloride, which can change the colour of your contact lenses. If you’re looking for Opticrom Allergy eye drops which can be used alongside contact lenses, Opticrom Allergy Single Dose eye drops could be a better option for you.
Can I drive after using these allergy eye drops?
Your vision may become blurry immediately after you use Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops. This is normal and will usually pass quite quickly. If this happens to you, you should not attempt to drive or use any tools or machinery until your vision has cleared and you’re sure that you are safe to do so.
Can I use this product if I’m pregnant?
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Opticrom eye drops. This product may not be suitable for you at the moment so you should only use it if told to by a medical professional.
How to use Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops
Before using these eye drops you should wash and dry your hands. Remove the cap from the bottle of drops. Tilt your head back and use your other hand to gently pull down on your lower eyelid, creating a gap between your eye and eyelid. Gently squeeze the bottle of Opticrom eye drops to deposit 1 - 2 drops into the gap below your lower lid, then close your eye to spread the drops evenly across its surface. Use a tissue to wipe away any excess drops from around your eye. For best results, use 1 - 2 drops in each eye four times a day.
When should this product not be used?
Do not use Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops if you are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other listed ingredients. This product is for use in the eyes only, do not swallow. If you accidentally use more than the recommended dose you should speak to your doctor right away.
Do Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops have any side effects?
