Loratadine 10mg is used to treat hay fever symptoms and other allergies. It provides you with relief from itchy and watery eyes, sneezing, coughing and other allergy-related symptoms.

Loratadine 10mg is a non-drowsy antihistamine.

 

How Loratadine 10mg works

This medication contains the active ingredient loratadine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. 

It works by blocking the substance histamine, which your body naturally produces when you come into contact with something you are allergic to.

 

Directions

Always take Loratadine 10mg exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

1 tablet should be taken daily. Do not give this medication to a child who weighs under 30kg.

Swallow the tablet whole with water. 

Do not take more than the recommended amount.

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Loratadine 10mg may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

  • Drowsiness
  • Headaches
  • Increased appetite 
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Nervousness
  • Tiredness

 

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

Warnings

Loratadine 10mg may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have liver disease or a severe liver problem.

You must tell your healthcare provider if you are due to have any skin tests for allergies. You must stop taking Loratadine 10mg before having these tests.

 

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.

 

Age restrictions 

This medication is not suitable for children under 2 years old.

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not take Loratadine 10mg if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

 

Alcohol

Do not drink alcohol whilst you are taking this medication.

 

Driving and operating machinery 

This medication may cause you to feel drowsy. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.



Storage information

Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
