What is Nicorette Fruit Fusion Gum?

Nicorette Fruit Fusion Gum is a chewing gum which can help to ease your cravings as you try to quit smoking. This gum contains 6mg of nicotine in each piece, making it ideal for heavier smokers who may find it more difficult to manage their urge to smoke when they quit. However, the same delicious fruit fusion flavoured gum is available in 4mg and 2mg doses, so you can gradually reduce your nicotine intake over time.

Why is it so difficult to quit smoking?

When you smoke, you take in an addictive substance called nicotine, which your body grows dependent on over time. When you quit smoking, your body craves the nicotine it would usually get when you smoke, causing side effects and making you want a cigarette more and more. This is why many people struggle to quit smoking without help, and why many people turn to Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help them to fight cravings.

What is NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy)?

Nicotine Replacement Therapy, also known as NRT, is a method that can help you to quit smoking. It provides you with the nicotine your body craves when you try to quit, easing withdrawal symptoms and cravings that make it so difficult to quit. As you quit smoking, you can gradually reduce the amount of nicotine you take in from your NRT treatment, cutting down gradually, which can help to reduce symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. NRT treatments can come in many different forms, with some of the most popular being:

  • Gum
  • Patches
  • Lozenges
  • Nasal or mouth sprays
  • Tablets

How can Nicorette Gum help me to quit smoking?

Nicorette Gum is a form of NRT, which means it helps you to quit smoking by replacing the nicotine you would usually get from smoking. Each piece of this Nicorette Fruit Fusion Gum contains 6mg of nicotine, making it ideal for heavy smokers who experience stronger cravings and need more enhanced craving relief.

Can I use this gum if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should try your best to give up smoking without using NRT. The sooner you quit smoking completely, the better this will be for you and your baby. However, if you can’t manage to quit completely by yourself, you can use NRT products such as Nicorette Gum to help you to quit. You should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as they may recommend a different course of treatment, such as nicotine patches. If you are breastfeeding and have been advised by a medical professional to use this product, you should breastfeed just before chewing Nicorette Gum to reduce the amount of nicotine that the baby will receive through your breast milk.

Can I use this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you are taking other medication, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some medications can interact when used together, making your medication less effective or causing unwanted side effects. Speak to your doctor before using this product if you are taking medications such as theophylline, clozapine, or ropinirole. When you quit smoking, your dosage of these medications may need to be adjusted.

Can I use this gum if I’m diabetic?

You should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you are diabetic, as you will need to monitor your blood sugar levels more often when you are chewing this gum. You may also find that your levels of insulin or medication need to change while using this product and your doctor will need to help you to manage your dosage.

How to use Nicorette 6mg Gum

Chew one piece of Nicorette Gum at a time. The amount of gum you will need to chew in a day will differ depending on how much you usually smoke.

  • 20 or fewer cigarettes a day – Chew one 2mg gum as required to ease cravings
  • More than 20 cigarettes as required to ease cravings – Chew one 4mg gum as required to ease cravings
  • More than 20 cigarettes a day needing strong craving relief – Chew one 6mg gum as required for enhanced craving relief when compared to the 4mg gum

Do not chew more than 15 pieces of gum a day.
