What is Nicorette Icy White 4mg Gum?

Nicorette Icy White 4mg Gum is a treatment that is used as an aid for those who are looking to quit smoking. The active ingredient in this gum is nicotine, the substance that causes addiction to tobacco. This gum is a treatment that is known as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). This is a form of treatment where Nicotine is used to reduce the cravings of a cigarette by slowly reducing the Nicotine intake over time. Besides being used for NRT, this gum can be used as a cigarette replacement when a cigarette cannot be used.

What causes nicotine addiction?

The cause of nicotine addiction is the tobacco in the cigarette. When the tobacco in inhaled, it gets into the lungs and from there, gets into the brain and this releases the neurotransmitter dopamine. Neurotransmitters control behaviours and mood. Dopamine gives off the feeling of pleasure and improves the mood. Any addiction to cigarettes will be dependent on certain triggers, which include routines or actions. Knowing what these are can help when it comes to quitting smoking.

Who is this Nicorette Gum suitable for?

This gum is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients that are contained in the gum. Do not use this gum and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist if any of the following applies to you:

  • Are in the hospital because of heart disease
  • Have a stomach ulcer
  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have an overactive thyroid
  • Are diabetic

You should also seek medical advice if you are using any other form of medication for another condition.

Can this gum be used by anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding?

This gum can be used by anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, though it is recommended that an attempt to quit smoking is done first without the use of any NRT. If this is unsuccessful, then you should look to use a form of NRT. Before doing so, speak to a medical professional for advice.

How should Nicorette Icy White 4mg Gum be used?

With standard chewing gum, it is used by chewing until the taste has gone. With this Nicorette Gum, there is a method that will help to reduce cravings. Firstly, chew until the taste is stronger and then stop chewing and move the gum in between the cheek and the gum of the mouth. There, let it rest until the taste has weakened. This will allow the nicotine to get into the lining of the mouth. Once the taste has almost gone, chew again for around 30 minutes. Once finished, carefully dispose of the gum. The recommended dosage is up to 15 pieces of gum a day when you feel cravings for a cigarette. This gum should be used if you smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day. If you smoke less than 20, then use the 2mg gum instead.
