What are Nicorette Invisi 15mg (Step 2) Patches?
Nicorette Invisi Patches are a treatment that is intended for those who are looking to quit smoking. They work by giving the body nicotine that it craves. This is known as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). NRT works by replacing the nicotine from a cigarette with a safer form. It is also intended to work as the amount of nicotine is reduced over time with the treatment. Besides being a form of NRT, these patches can be used as a substitute for a cigarette when it is not possible to use one.
What is the cause of nicotine addiction?
Nicotine addiction is caused by smoking cigarettes over a period of time. When smoking a cigarette, the tobacco is inhaled into the lungs. From there, the nicotine in the tobacco gets to the brain. This causes the brain to release a neurotransmitter which changes the mood. This neurotransmitter is dopamine, which when released, improves the mood and gives off the feeling of pleasure. Over time, the body will want more dopamine so it causes cravings for nicotine, the trigger for dopamine. Cravings can be triggered by actions and routines and knowing what these are can help when it comes to quitting smoking.
Who are these nicotine patches suitable for?
These patches are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. They should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the patches. If any of the following apply to you, do not use these patches and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using:
- In hospital because of heart disease
- Have stomach ulcers
- Have kidney or liver disease
- About to undergo an MRI procedure
- Have an overactive thyroid
- Are diabetic
- Have a skin disorder
You should also consult a professional for advice if you are using any other form of medication before using these patches.
Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these patches?
Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should try and quit smoking without using any form of NRT first. If that is not possible for any reason, then use some NRT treatment. Though before doing so, consult a medical professional for advice.
How should Nicorette Invisi 15mg (Step 2) Patches be used?
These step 2 patches should be used after step 1 if you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day. If you don’t then start with these patches and use for 8 weeks before switching to step 3 patches for a further 4 weeks. Only use one patch a day and apply at the same time and remove before going to bed. To apply, place on a clean area of the skin with no hair. When applying, ensure to hold pressure on the patch for 10 seconds to allow the adhesive to stick onto the skin. If you lose a patch when swimming or in the bath, you can replace it with another one.
