What is Jungle Formula Maximum Insect Repellent Spray?

Jungle Formula Maximum is an extra strong insect repellent spray which is suitable for use in tropical, wooded or lake areas or when extra protection against insects is required. It has the maximum Insect Repellent Factor of 4 which provides up to 9 hours of protection against mosquitoes. It contains 50% DEET and plant extracts which provides long-lasting, strong protection and is quick and easy to apply. How can you protect yourself from insect bites and stings?

At best, insect bites and stings can be irritating and cause discomfort, at worst they can cause allergic reactions or spread serious diseases, so it is important to take precautions, especially if you have an insect bite allergy or are travelling to a place where there is a serious risk of picking up diseases from insect bites.

Basic prevention methods

Protecting yourself from insects doesn’t have to be difficult. Just taking a few simple precautions can help to prevent bites and stings:

• Remain calm and slowly move away from wasps, hornets or bees – avoid waving your arms or swatting as this can anger them
• Cover exposed skin when you are outside especially during sunrise and sunset, as this is when insects tend to be the most active
• Apply insect repellent to exposed skin
• Avoid using products with strong perfumes, soaps, shampoos and deodorants, as these products can attract insects
• Do NOT disturb insect nests
• Avoid camping near water, as this is were mosquitoes and horseflies are usually found
• Keep food and drink covered when outside
• Keep doors and windows closed or place a thin netting or door beads over doors and windows to prevent insects entering the house

How can Jungle Formula Maximum help to repel insects?

Jungle Formula Maximum contains a high dose of the active ingredient DEET (N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) which is an effective insect repellent, which deters insects from landing or biting. It has the highest Insect Repellent Factor (IRF 4) and can deter insects for up to 9 hours. It protects against most common mosquito species, however for some tropical mosquito species, the protection time can be much formula such as:

• Around 4 hours protection against the mosquito responsible for spreading yellow fever
• Around 8 hours protection against the malaria mosquito

This product is suitable for use in tropical destinations where areas pose a high risk of serious diseases such as:

• Malaria
• West Nile Virus
• Yellow Fever
• Dengue Fever

Jungle Formula vs Jungle Formula Maximum

Jungle Formula Maximum contains DEET, whereas Jungle Formula is a DEET-free product. Travellers visiting long-haul tropical destinations can use Jungle Formula Maximum as it is effective against most tropical mosquitoes, including malaria mosquitoes. Original Jungle Formula is not suitable for long-haul destinations and should only be used in the UK or Europe, as it does not provide protection that is suitable against tropical mosquitoes.

How to use this product

Apply generously over uncovered skin. Ensure that this product is applied gently and evenly over the skin. This product should NOT be used more than once a day, unless you have been swimming or showering, in which case you should apply the product immediately afterwards. Avoid contact with lips, eye, mucous membranes and damaged skin, as well as food, plastics and lacquered surfaces. Any skin that hasn’t been treated by Jungle Formula should be covered with clothing to avoid insect bites.

When NOT to use this product

This product is NOT suitable for children under the age of 18. Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list).  This product can cause serious eye irritation. If contact occurs, rinse immediately and carefully for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if necessary. Seek medical attention if irritation persists. Do NOT inhale the spray or eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Only use this product outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. If this product is swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
