What is HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream?

HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream is a treatment for dry skin conditions, such as eczema and dermatitis, that can also be used to ease reactions to insect bites, nickel allergies, plant allergies, and other irritants. It soothes the inflammation which happens when your skin is exposed to something that irritates it, easing itching, irritation and other symptoms.

What is dermatitis?

Dermatitis is a type of eczema, a dry skin condition which flares up when your skin comes into contact with something that irritates it. If you have dermatitis, then avoiding a particular irritant can help you to avoid flare-ups, but this isn’t always possible, which is why some people need creams and other treatments to help to control their symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms of dermatitis include:

  • Redness
  • Blisters
  • Dry skin
  • Cracked skin
  • Inflammation
  • Thickened skin

How will HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream help to soothe dry skin and insect bites?

HC45 hydrocortisone cream contains 1% w/w of the active ingredient hydrocortisone acetate. This ingredient works by changing how your body reacts to irritants (which can aggravate eczema or dermatitis) and insect stings. This reduces inflammation in your skin, easing symptoms like redness, itching, and swelling.

Can I use this product if I’m using another medication?

If you’re using other medication, including those used on the skin and those obtained without a prescription, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some medications can interact when used together, causing unwanted side effects or making your medication less effective, but a medical professional can help you to avoid this.

Can I use HC45 cream if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using HC45 Cream. Some medications may not be suitable for you or your baby at this time.

How to use Hydrocortisone Cream

Use HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream sparingly on small areas of skin. Use only on the affected area of skin and avoid surrounding areas as best as you can. For best results, use twice a day for 7 days. Do not cover with a bandage or dressing.

Why do I need to answer questions before I can buy this product?

You do not need a prescription for HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream, however, you will be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire by your Chemist 4 U pharmacist before we can take your order. This includes some simple questions that all pharmacies legally are required to ask before supplying this kind of product. This helps our pharmacy team to be sure that this product is the best choice for you.

When should this cream not be used?

HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream is not suitable for use by children under the age of 10 unless specifically advised by a medical professional. Do not use this cream if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to eyes, face, anal or genital areas.
