Skin Infections

Skin infections such as ringworm and athlete's foot are common fungal infections caused by dermatophytes, a group of fungi that thrive in warm, moist environments.

Ringworm, or tinea corporis, manifests as red, circular and itchy rashes with clearer skin in the centre, giving it a ring-like appearance.

Athlete's foot, or tinea pedis, affects the feet, particularly the spaces between the toes, leading to itching, burning and cracked skin. Both infections are highly contagious and can spread through direct contact with infected skin, surfaces or personal items.

Thankfully, we offer skin infection treatments to help you clear your stubborn skin infection and relieve your symptoms. Simply answer our quick questionnaire and our prescriber will decide whether a prescription skin infection treatment is right for you. If it is, we'll send it directly to your door to get your treatment started.

Remember, your final treatment will be decided by our prescribers based on your answers provided within your consultation. You will be asked to indicate a preferred treatment option from a selected list after completion of your consult.

How do skin infection treatments work?

Skin infection treatments, such as Nystaform, are topical medications used to treat skin infections caused by fungi and bacteria. It contains two active ingredients: nystatin, an antifungal that disrupts the fungal cell membrane, and chlorhexidine, an antiseptic that destroys bacterial cell membranes.

Together, these components effectively stop the growth of fungi and reduce bacterial infections, making Nystaform cream and ointment suitable for treating mixed skin infections.
