What is Drapolene Antiseptic Nappy Rash Cream?

Drapolene Cream is a soothing, effective treatment for nappy rash, incontinence dermatitis and minor burns, including sunburn. This unique, antiseptic formulation gently relieves irritation, reduces redness on the skin and helps stop bacteria growing that causes irritation.

It contains two antiseptics: benzalkonium chloride and cetrimide, which soothe and treat the rash, helping to stop the growth of bacteria which can cause the rash. It also contains two moisturisers: white paraffin and lanolin, which moisturise the skin and form a protective barrier that prevents external irritants from reaching the skin.

How to use this product

Always use Drapolene Antiseptic Nappy Rash Cream exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. To treat a baby’s nappy rash, first wash and dry the affected area thoroughly, paying close attention to the folds of skin. Apply Drapolene Cream thinly to the irritated area then fit a clean, dry nappy. You should reapply Drapolene Cream at each nappy change to prevent nappy rash.

For incontinence dermatitis, clean, wash and dry the affected area thoroughly, paying particular attention to the folds of skin. Apply Drapolene Cream thinly to the irritated area and change the incontinence pad. Apply Drapolene Cream regularly and after each toilet visit.

For minor burns, including sunburn, immerse the burn into cold water until the skin is cold. Dry the skin gently and apply a thin layer of Drapolene Cream to the burn site to soothe and relieve the sore skin. Repeat throughout the day if necessary.

When to use nappy rash cream?

If your baby has sensitive skin or a nappy rash, it’s time to apply a nappy rash cream or barrier cream during nappy changes to protect the skin against moisture or to help the rash heal. If your baby’s skin is normal, you don’t need to apply a nappy rash cream between changes.

What causes nappy rash?

Nappy rash can be caused by many things and it’s usually nothing to worry about - in fact, most babies will develop a nappy rash at some point. It can be caused by not changing their nappy for a long period of time, resulting in them being in extended contact with wee or poo; not cleaning the nappy area properly; soap, detergent or bubble bath; alcohol-based baby wipes and certain medicines.

When should this product not be used?

. Do not use this product if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Storage information
